The Kellogg School District proudly congratulates Kellogg High School for being honored with the prestigious Idaho FAFSA Excellence Award for exceeding FAFSA completion rates from the previous year. This recognition highlights the exceptional commitment of the school’s staff to ensuring students have the tools needed for postsecondary success. Counselor Lisa Cheney and Counselor Secretary Lauren Holmquist accepted the award at the Waypoint Conference held in Boise, ID, on September 30, 2024.
This award is part of the Idaho State Board of Education's initiative, supported by a special grant aimed at boosting FAFSA completion rates among 2024 graduates. Despite the challenges posed by the Better FAFSA rollout, Kellogg High School was one of the first 50 schools in Idaho to surpass its prior completion rate and register for the Idaho Summer FAFSA Challenge. As part of this recognition, the school was awarded $1,200 to support conference-related expenses, such as registration, lodging, and transportation.
The initiative emphasizes the importance of FAFSA completion, as students who complete the form are significantly more likely to pursue higher education. Kellogg High School’s achievements reflect its dedication to fostering college and career readiness and ensuring that more Idaho students have access to educational opportunities beyond high school.
The Kellogg School District commends Counselor Lisa Cheney and Counselor Secretary Lauren Holmquist for their hard work and dedication, which has contributed to this outstanding accomplishment. Their efforts ensure that students at Kellogg High School continue to thrive and move forward in their educational journeys.
